The billionaire proprietor of Bridgewater, the world's fourth most prominent hedge fund, expressed his regret that, like approximately half the population, he wished for a viable alternative to Donald Trump and Joe Biden.
“I feel like I am faced with the choice between a strong, unethical, almost fascist Republican Party and a frail, untruthful and enigmatic Democratic Party,” he wrote in a column for Time he simultaneously posted on LinkedIn. “As things now stand, there is no good presidential contender and no good party for me to choose from.”

The speculator, who relinquished control of Bridgewater in 2022, had informed Fortune CEO Alan Murray that he was already apprehensive about the possibility of a rematch between Trump and Biden before the first primary contest in Iowa.
Dalio turned his attention to the leading Democrats, who were attempting to conceal the President's "weak and rapidly declining condition" from the American public. He had previously stated that he respected and admired Biden.
The party undermined trust by claiming that the 82-year-old had the constitution to endure an additional four years of the most demanding and significant position even though it was evident that the emperor was, in fact, naked.
“That is obviously ridiculous and an insult to people’s intelligence,” Dalio wrote, adding claims that Biden could still function most hours of the day only lead to a “terrible loss of confidence in its honesty and judgment.”

Major Democratic donors, such as the Disney heiress Abigail Disney, have expressed reluctance to provide additional funding for his re-election campaign. They have likened Biden to an elderly parent who requires the removal of their vehicle keys.
Senator Michael Bennet Warns Biden's Candidacy Could Lead to a Landslide Victory for Trump
On July 9, Michael Bennet became the first Senate Democrat to publicly acknowledge that Biden was at risk of losing to his opponent in November.
The Colorado legislator even went further in his interview with CNN, asserting that the President's continued candidacy could result in a landslide victory for Trump's party and a complete sweep of the House, Senate, and Presidency.
“We have four months to figure out how we’re going to save the country from Donald Trump,” he told the cable news network. “The stakes could not be higher.”
Bennet acknowledged that he only disclosed his remarks to his colleagues after they were released to the press, which indicates the party's internal turmoil.
Dalio, the inventor of Bridgewater, concluded in his column that the Democrats were now left with only three viable options, none particularly appealing.

They could either unite behind Biden in the hopes of white-knuckling it to a re-election victory and then addressing the issue afterward as "bait and switch", hand Vice President Kamala Harris the nomination on a silver platter and drop her into the race "coronation", or organize a shortened contest among leading contenders to take Biden's stead "mini-primary".
Although the latter was Dalio's preferable choice, as it would provide Americans with the option of selecting the ticket leader, he recognized that it would likely impede their chances of winning in November.
“I am still hoping for honest, smart, strong and ideally moderate-bipartisan Democrats (or Republicans) to step forward,” he wrote.
Both Trump and Biden will likely be able to secure their votes and donation checks at that time.
